This past Thursday, July 6, hundreds of people across the U.S. participated in sit-ins at senators’ offices to stand up against Trumpcare. Columbus activists joined in the national action by sitting in at Portman’s local office with these demands:

(1.) That Senator Portman host a public town hall to discuss the healthcare bill with his constituents.

Saturday, July 8, 6:30-10pm, Livingston Park [near Nationwide Children’s Hospital], 760 E. Livingston Ave.

The U.S. Senate will soon vote on a health care repeal bill that would devastate Medicaid, children, rural Ohio hospitals, and people living with mental illness and addiction.

U.S. Senator Rob Portman has said that he wants to protect “the most vulnerable in our society.” If he votes for the AHCA/BCRA, he will put vulnerable Ohioans at risk.

Wednesday, July 5, 12noon-1pm, Ohio Statehouse

The Ohio General Assembly wants to freeze Medicaid enrollments!

This week, Ohio’s legislature passed a budget bill that freezes enrollments in expanded Medicaid after July 1, 2018. The bill has been passed to Governor Kasich; he is expected to veto the language that freezes enrollments. If that happens, the legislature may have the votes to override his veto and pass the enrollment freeze into law.

Wednesday, June 21, 7:30pm, Franklinton Health Center of Columbus, Ohio, 1511 W. Broad St.

The House-passed health care bill would defund Planned Parenthood health clinics — which have served more than 1 million women just since Trump’s inauguration. With the Senate bill being written by 13 men in complete secrecy and the Senate vote on the bill taking place as early as next week, now is the time to stand with Planned Parenthood and fight for women’s health.

Saturday, June 3, 10am-1pm, Supreme Court of Ohio, 65 S. Front St.

All across the country, Marches for Truth — peaceful demonstrations focused on demanding the truth — will be arranged on Saturday, June 3. This event will be a rally supporting the March for Truth movement. Our goals are simple:

1. Congressional investigations should be properly resourced and pursued free of partisan interests, and/or an independent investigation must be established.

2. As much information as possible should be made available to the public, and as soon as possible.

Tuesday, May 23, 5:30-7pm, the Bluestone [the former First Baptist Church building], 583 E. Broad St.

Columbus has a problem with poor City leadership accountability. Mayor Andrew Ginther, City Council, and the Columbus Police Department [CPD] are only interested in protecting their “friends” over working families that are priced out of their neighborhoods, and Black communities are left to bury their loved ones at the hands of the police.
