Kirkpatrick senior fellow for national security studies at the Council on Foreign Relations and a columnist for The Washington Post. Learn about the escalating conflict in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo through this interdisciplinary and informational discussion. Dr. Sarah Van Beurden of the OSU Department of African American and African Studies and OSU Department of History will be moderating.

Topics of discussion include the historical origins of the conflict, its geopolitical implications, diaspora engagement, and challenges surrounding humanitarian intervention.

This Forum considers whether Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives are important within universities. Is DEI work necessary to create a hospitable environment for diverse members of campus communities? Does DEI work contribute to or detract from the aims and missions of universities?

This Forum will be moderated by undergraduate Civil Discourse Fellows Kandace McConnell and Annie Zhang.

Barthman Ave. We will have an informal “meet and greet” session with snacks from 5:30pm to 6pm. The forum will begin at 6pm; we anticipate it lasting approximately two hours.
