The Columbus Institute of Contemporary Journalism (CICJ) has operated Freepress.org since 2000 and ColumbusFreepress.com was started initially as a separate project to highlight the print newspaper and local content.
ColumbusFreepress.com has been operating as a project of the CICJ for many years and so the sites are now being merged so all content on ColumbusFreepress.com now lives on Freepress.org
The Columbus Freepress is a non-profit funded by donations we need your support to help keep local journalism that isn't afraid to speak truth to power alive.
Americans ought to speak out FOR legal immigration.
Americans ought to speak out AGAINST illegal immigration.
This is not a racist thing. This is not bigotry.
It is a matter of fairness to those who are legal, who play by the rules.
And it is a matter of being fair to working Americans who find that it is
hard to get ahead, often due to a downward pressure on wages and
benefits...due to the competition from so many illegal workers.
And it is a matter of protecting our country. We can argue all day long
about the war in Iraq. But surely...all of us, those for that war, those
against that war, can all agree...that if we are trying to protect our
country, then it is silly to go fight over in Iraq while allowing millions
of people to wander across our borders. If we want to protect our
borders, there is much to be done. Part of it is: no amnesty.
Any kind of amnesty is a way of breeding contempt and disrespect for
efforts at protecting and enforcing our borders.
Any form of amnesty sends a big big signal to millions of aliens that
they might as well come here illegally...because...if they do, well,
we will probably do amnesty again and again.
I oppose the legislation pending in D.C. at this time. I'd be happier
passing no changes in the law at all. Just enforce existing laws.
Enforce existing laws. Enforce existing laws.
This is one of many topics on my radio show. Tune in if you can,
please.
And please pardon me if you did not want to receive this email.
If you would like to be removed from my address book forever,
just reply "remove."
If you would like to caution me not to email you very often, but
if you will be kind enough to accept email just once in a while,
just reply "once in a while." I'll drop you something once each
2 or 3 months about my radio show and some of the issues,
guests, topics.
If you would like to receive regular email from me about my show
on a daily basis or a weekly basis, please reply "daily" or please
reply "weekly."
Some of the other topics which are discussed on my show,
listing them randomly, with no particular plan:
*Stop wasteful local government spending on corrupt
"corporate welfare" schemes.
*Stop wasteful local government spending on purchases of
land not needed by the local governments...and so often at
more than fair market value.
*Be realistic about energy issues in every way. Let's
develop and promote affordable alternative energy, but
let's not promote doom and gloom.
*Be realistic about climate change. Let's study what
the experts say. Let's get the truth. Let's react appropriately,
but let's not over-react.
*Where are all those so-called conservatives who ran for
Congress, promising to balance the budget?! I want the
balanced budget amendment which they promised to try
to approve and send out to the states for ratification.
*There ought to be some basic minimal effort to prosecute
officials for any conflict of interest when a School Board
Member or School Superintendent or Mayor or Council
Member...pushes for contracts which directly benefit
him or his family or his business. Sadly...many local
governments appear to have been hijacked by thugs
who use their positions to enrich their pals.
